The new front axle design provides Champion C110 C Series Grader with unprecedented front axle clearance to handle the big jobs. Hydraulic hoses are neatly tucked away.

Champion offers 2, 4 and 6 wheel drive in its C116 C Series Grader, to be introduced later this year. The tandems can free-wheel to allow hydraulically powered front wheel drive. Ideal for fine grading applications.

Gull wing engine and fan doors provide easy access for ground level servicing and maintenance.

Lockable gull wing doors provide increased security for the engine compartment.

Charlotte, NC - Bryan Abernathy, Executive Vice President for Champion Motor Graders of Charlotte, NC, is delighted to announce the biggest grader yet in the Champion product line on view at ConExpo 2008 in Las Vegas this March 11-16 (Central, Booth #C-4853). The Champion C110 C Tandem Drive and Champion C116 C All Wheel Drive models will take the Champion line of graders and attachments to new weights, heights and into new applications for all markets.

The C110 C Series Grader weighs in at approximately 23,500 lb (10 659 kg) and is powered to 120 HP (89 kW). It is designed to bridge the gap between traditional “compact” grader lines and “large” grader models. Abernathy said, “There’s a niche to be filled between what is known as “compact” graders and the traditional full-size lines. We designed these new Champion Production Class models to meet customer needs for more power and versatility, while still retaining the maneuverability, versatility, and operating efficiency that are the hallmarks of Champion Motor Graders.”

Abernathy added: “In today’s market, these new Champions are unique – they’re production-style machines in a smaller package. After talking to a lot of people in industry, we anticipate that every segment will be interested, from contractors to municipalities to rental fleets. These new models are designed for high productivity in the widest variety of applications, just like the rest of the product line.” According to those contacted and involved in the evolution of this machine, “We know that choosing the right machine and equipping it for maximum utilization is key. If the engineers at Champion have listened carefully then we are convinced that this will be the perfect machine for a lot of us. It will give us the flexibility and power that will open the door on increased jobsite application.”

What’s new for these big Champions: they’re powered by a Cummins QSB6.7 that meets Tier 3 Emissions and a fully sequential, direct drive 8 forward/4 reverse transmission that offers a top speed of 27 mph. With a longer wheelbase and bladebase, plus a wider stance, these graders maintain the famous Champion do-everything capability that the market has enjoyed for years.

For instance, the hydrostatic All Wheel Drive system in the C116 C, to be introduced in late 2009, will allow the operator to engage only the front wheels up to 2 mph for optimum fine grading control. And now, with the inclusion of a direct drive transmission, these graders have added snow clearing to the many tasks they can handle.

The big ideas at work in all of Champion’s C Series Graders are all here - every manufacturing step builds-in big quality, every feature has big benefits, and every option adds big payback for owners and operators. All the standard Champion features have been built-in to these machines: full perimeter rear frame, fully machined tandem boxes, engineering for attachment loading and powering and fully certified braking systems.

Value-added Champion options and attachments can make the C110 C and C116 C into the ultimate productivity machines.  Add an attachment like the Scarifier, Ripper, Dozer, Roller, Tamper and you have the multi-function machine that Champion Motor Graders has become famous for. Additionally, these machines, like all Champion Graders have the necessary brackets pre-engineered for an Automatic Blade Control System. With a fully-tested ROPS/FOPS cab with HVAC, you can turn your big Champion into your worksite’s machine of choice to get the job done fast.
